Peter van Lint (geb. Den Haag, Laakkwartier, 1933, Basisschool Gerardus Majella School en Eerste Nederlandse Buitenschool in Den Haag, Gymnasium B 1953, Roermond, Kweekschool voor Onderwijzers, Den Haag, 1956) is in Den Haag (School voor Taal enLetterkunde) opgeleid tot docent Nederlands (MO B 1964) en heeft daarna in de loop der tijd o.m. enige jaren Filosofie aan de Internationale Faculteit in Haarlem, (1966-1967) Rechten aan de Open Universiteit (1990-1992) en Muziektheorie aan het MOS (tegenwoordig Schumann-instituut) in Zwolle (1990-1994) gestudeerd.
Van 1974 tot 1988 was hij Wetenschappelijk Hoofdmedewerker Taalbeheersing en Theaterwetenschap aan de Faculteit der Letteren van de Rijksuniversiteit in Groningen.
Na een korte periode als ambtenaar bij het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken was hij als onderwijzer werkzaam bij het basisonderwijs (1956-1958) , als docent Nederlands (en Drama) bij het voortgezet onderwijs (1958-1971, Keizer Karel College, Amstelveen en DaltonScholengemeenschap Voorburg)), als medewerker voor Expressievakken bij het Algemeen Pedagogisch Studiecentrum (Amsterdam ), als hoofdcoördinator van de ministeriële nascholing Nederlands voor docenten voortgezet onderwijs (1971-1975), en na 1988 periodiek in verschillende functies bij het HBO (directie, adviseur, onderzoeker, invaldocent voor Nederlands, Retorica, Reflectie en/of Drama).
Van 1988 tot 2013 was hij oprichter/directeur van TACT (Training en Advies in Communicatie en Taalvaardigheid) in Dalfsen (van 2005-2013 Heino) en gaf hij (samen met dr. Ietje Pauw en acteur/regisseur Barthel van Lint) cursussen Communicatie en Public Speaking voornamelijk aan het hoger kader van het bedrijfsleven (o.a. WILMA, Heymans, Van Wijnen, WPM, Dura-Vermeer) en religieuze en politieke organisaties (o.a. het Apostolisch Genootschap of de PPR). Daarbij baseerden de cursusleiders zich op retorische en theatrale theorieën en technieken. In principe maakte schrijven voor toneel deel uit van het cursusaanbod van TACT. Peter van Lint beschouwt zichzelf echter eerder als onderzoeker en pedagoog dan als toneelschrijver.
Ook trad hij op als regisseur van theater (Midsummernightsdream, De Wijze Kater, Die Eerste Bliscap van Maria) en leidde hij werkgroepen jongerentheater (Den Haag, Dalfsen). In 2011 leende hij zijn stem als Voice-over in de de musical Dromen Denken Durven Doen door Hans Groen in Zwolle.
Hij was redacteur van het tijdschrift Scholen in Toneel (Theaterwetenschap RUG Groningen), hoofdredacteur van het tijdschrift Theater en Educatie (Beroepsvereniging van dramadocenten), en redacteur van Kennisgeving (Gebruikersgroep Artificiële Intelligentie van de HCC).
Hij heeft een groot aantal publicaties op zijn naam op het gebied van gesproken en geschreven taalverkeer, drama en theater, politiek en ander openbaar taalgebruik, artificiële intelligentie, en de didactiek van het onderwijs in taalverkeer.
Tegenwoordig woont hij met zijn partner Ietje Pauw in Lemelerveld. Hij heeft twee zonen, één dochter en vier kleinzonen.
Hij treedt af en toe op als zanger/gitarist en heeft voorkeur voor het standaard jazzrepertoire.
